We’ve written a lot about Nike’s Olympic efforts, but after it was announced in April, the Air Jordan 4 “Paris Olympics” has been by far the leader of the pack. With the opening ceremony just a few days away, Nike has been able to make a statement. weeks away, the release of that pair is also getting closer. Official images have just arrived in agreement with the impending launch.
The official moniker for this pair is reportedly “Wet Cement,” but the inspiration from France remains the same, taking elements from its urban landscapes holistically. Neutral grey covers the AJ4 from heel to toe, passing through from a light slate grey on the insole to iron tones on the sole of the foot.
Subtitled “special edition,” the Air Jordan 4 “Paris Olympics” makes good on that promise with some notable hardware changes; the traditional webbing at the corner and under the laces is replaced with suede, mirroring the geometry of that iconic section with an embossed checkerboard pattern. A speckled back tab and wings round out the design, with some serious detailing and placing it far beyond a “KAWS at home” proposition.
The Air Jordan 5 “Paris Olympics” is set to release on July 27th via SNKRS and select retailers. Retail price is set at $225 for the men’s sizing and $170 for the elementary school sizing.
